Plenty of sweet pets and great friends helping our heroine (usually) solve a murder, finding lost important papers and accidents that may have been murder. No blood and guts, the crime solvers can be any age middle school clear to dotage. No I don’t have a clue ‘who done’ and some times I don’t care, at other times I got the killer first. Keep writing my kind of books, pretty please with extra sugar on top. Oh romance is okay if it is just really a nice friendship.

April 11, 2020 at 12:38 pmQuite honestly, I’m struggling. I’m high risk so while my Governor mandated the hunker down, shelter in place earlier this month, I have actually isolated since January. It feels like forever since I’ve felt the sun and walked in the woods. Then I received some news, health related, that wasn’t what I was hoping for. It seems I have a couple of surgeries to look forward to when this ends. Those things have been weights. On with the positives, you should always end with the positives, right? I have found that people have huge hearts and, in the midst of their own troubles, they are sharing their hope and love. The times are scary for everyone. Yet people in my town are busy sewing masks, gowns and face shields so our community is covered. Strangers shop for elders and single parents. Restaurants, who are truly hurting, are donating food to front line families. I have received cards in the mail from people I only know from reading groups. This all outweighs the negatives in my life. So while I struggle, many kind friends, family members and strangers keep me lifted and shine the light of hope. We will get through this together and perhaps be a stronger, kinder, more cohesive and better nation than we were. How are you all doing?

April 11, 2020 at 1:34 pmWe are all doing well, all things considered. Hubs and I (and some of our other authors, whom I shall not name) are in the moderate high risk category, because we are seniors, although generally healthy.
That’s scary enough. I can only begin to imagine how hard it is for you and others who have health issues that make you more susceptible.
Do you have someplace safe where you can walk, or at least sit in the sun for a while? We have a small bit of open land near our house. It has been a Godsend to be able to go for short walks there.
And yes, it is amazing and so heartwarming to see communities coming together in so many ways. I do believe, as a country, we will come out the other end of this stronger and better.

April 14, 2020 at 1:45 pmDoing well, actually. Since I live in a small, relatively rural, town, the impact has been far less in our lives here than it has been in larger or more urban areas. Simply put, in smaller areas like this, there are very few UNessential jobs. The largest industry in our area is ranching. If you are unfamiliar with that lifestyle, let me simply put it this way, the cows still need to be milked and fed whether you’re in quarantine or not… LOL. Accordingly, you will still need to be buying gas, food, equipment, supplies, etc. etc. etc.
Regardless, my heart aches for the many tales of struggle I’ve heard or read these past few weeks, even as it jubilates for the equally astounding tales of compassion and kindness which have also appeared.
I feel quite vindicated, if I am honest. Over the past few years as divisiveness has increased across every imaginable attribute, I have remained steadfast in my opinion that things are not really as bad as most fear, and that most people are far better than the credit we, as a culture, collectively give ourselves. As we all move through this “non-crisis” together, I am finally finding proof that my hopes are in fact quite real.
So, I wish you all much joy in every day and every moment.

April 14, 2020 at 5:16 pmI live in a small city, in a county that responded early on to what was going on. So we have very few cases, and no deaths so far.
But it is heartbreaking to see the scenes from the hospitals in New York and other places that have been hit harder. And then you hear a story about someone going that extra mile to help another…
I, like you, have always been optimistic about the human race. It’s gratifying to see that I’ve been right all along. Yes, there are a few jerks running around refusing to do what they are supposed to be doing, but so many communities are pulling together. Heartwarming!

People decided to stock pile food etc, we had an awful job getting food etc. We didn’t so had to pay the price.
It’s better now though.

April 18, 2020 at 2:44 pmNo apologies necessary, Sue. We really do want to know how everyone is faring. I’m glad things have gotten better. It was crazy here for a while as well, and going out to the store is a risk because we’re in the 65+ age range.
We’ve started shopping through a delivery service. They do surprisingly well finding substitutions if what we’ve ordered is out. It seems like the shelves are not quite as bare as they were (except the toilet paper aisle…lol).
And the spring weather is helping with my spirits as well. Continue to take good care of yourselves!!

As for how I’m doing, I’m ok revamping sewing skills (or something resembling skills) to make masks for family and friends and if I have supplies left after that I’ll donate. The extra long waits to get into stores grocery and fabric (2.5 hours) is trying, but it could be worse. (I did subscribe to the blog btw)
