WORD!!

There’s this thing going around where, in lieu of new year’s resolutions, people pick one word to represent their hopes and goals for 2016.

One word? Seriously? I never say anything in just one word.

But hey, I’m game to try. The first word that came to mind was “Wow!” But that was probably a better word for 2015 than 2016. This past year, my books did particularly well. And I started getting emails, several a week, from readers who had just discovered my Kate Huntington books. I love, love, love hearing from readers!!

Plus my husband and I checked a big item off of our bucket list. We spent over three weeks in Hawaii!

So 2015 was definitely a Wow year.

I also got an idea for a new series that I’m so excited about, plus a couple other projects I’ll tell you about in a moment.

So I think the word for 2016 is going to be “Possibilities.” So many possibilities are opening up this year, not just for me but for several of our misterio press authors.

Shannon Esposito and Kirsten Weiss both started new series in 2015, and will have some additions to those coming out this year. And Kathy Owen and Vinnie Hansen are also toying with some new ideas.

Book 1 in my new series is with beta readers and I’m getting good feedback. (Phew! It’s always such a relief to hear that a story isn’t the pure crap you fear it will be. 🙂 ) This winter, I’ll also be publishing a guide book for novice authors, hoping I can help them avoid some of the pitfalls and potholes I stumbled into on my journey.

And I may write another non-fiction book in 2016. Not sure yet about that project, so I’ll just leave it at that for now. And of course, there will be new installments in my on-going fiction series, the Kate Huntington mysteries and the Kate on Vacation cozies.

As for this blog, honestly, I’m starting to run out of ideas. I blog mainly about psychology and I’ve run through most of the topics I think are important.

So I’ll open it up to you all. What questions do you have about psychology? Please email me at lambkassandra3 @gmail.com if there’s a topic you’d like me to address. Put “psychology question” in the subject line and let me know what’s on your mind. I’ll do my best to answer everyone’s questions as promptly as I can.

How about you? Do you have a Word for 2016?

Happy New Year, Everyone!!!

It sounds like you have an exciting 2016 ahead, Kass! And it was a great 2015, too. How fab that you are gaining new readers. (Terrific that you guys went to Hawaii)!

2015 was a really good year for me as well. I started a new novelette series last year – Chronicles of a Lady Detective. It will be fun to explore that Penelope is up to next! Also, the first book of my Concordia Wells series was honored with Library Journal’s “Best of 2015: Mystery” in their inaugural SELF-e awards category.

And I believe that it was in 2015 that Vinnie won the Golden Donut award for a book in her series (Vinnie, I’m blanking out about which one, though! I’ll let you fill in the details).

Looking forward to a great year at Misterio Press!

Oh, how could I forget about the awards you all won? Another reason why 2015 was a Wow year, and this one should have lots of Possibilities for more Wow!

I love your word for the year! And you really did have a great 2015. Here’s to wonderful possibilities for 2016 (which you’ve already started on)!

My word for this year is “soar.” To reach for things, to step out of my comfort zone, and to thrive.

I love “possibilities.” And what great stuff you all have going on! I”m still mulling over my word for the year – Gratitude and Kindness were the frontrunners, but now Choices is popping up there. But considering how my current WIP is going, maybe it should be Perseverance!

My word for 2016 is Courage. Geez, Kassandra, I thought I came up with that idea. I didn’t know it was a thing already.

I’ve been so impressed with the successes of our misterio press authors! Last year rocked for me–two short story publications, the new release from misterio of Black Beans & Venom (awarded a B.R.A.G. Medallion) and the re-release of both One Tough Cookie and Death with Dessert. And thanks, Kathy, for mentioning my Golden Donut Award. It was for a flash fiction piece, though, rather than a novel.

I was mixing up the BRAG medallion with the Golden Donut. Two awards: awesome!

Maybe you started the “thing,” Vinnie. 😀

Courage is an awesome word. And of course, your B.R.A.G. Medallion was another reason 2015 was a Wow year for us, plus all the great releases. I’m so proud of all our wonderful misterio press authors.

Happy New Year, Kass. I like the word “possibilities.” That’s a good one for me for 2016 since the end of May I’ll finish up as care giver to two of my grand kids and will have more time to actually write, plus launch a new career as a health and wellness coach. So “health” is another one word goal. But to make any or it work, I need to work on “organize” because being unorganized is driving me crazy! Never got Christmas cards out, didn’t put up a tree, only put out a few decorations. And here we are past the middle of January. Can we slow time down? That photo of Hawaii is gorgeous. I miss Hawaii.

Congrats on starting a new series! Yippee for “possibilities” for 2016. Who knows where they will lead? It’s all very exciting!
