Do you remember that old song? Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you… (from the musical, The King and I)
That song has been running through my head ever since the wonderful Jansen Schmidt nominated our blog for the Liebster Award.
To be a Liebster, one simply answers the following questions, then nominates other bloggers to do the same.
We thought this would be fun, to share a little bit about ourselves with you all. And we’d love it if you would answer one or two of these questions (the ones that strike your fancy) in the comments, so we can get to know you better!
What is the goal for our blog? (This might be the only one we answer seriously 🙂 )
To entertain, educate and intrigue our readers.
If you could meet anyone (past or present), who would it be?
Shannon: the Dalai Lama
Kirsten: Ian Rankin
Kathy: Sherlock Holmes (oh wait, he’s not real…) Buddha
Vinnie: My Grandma Palmer
Kass: Maya Angelou
What is your guilty pleasure?
Shannon: Cheesy Sci Fi movies
Kirsten: Chocoholic here!
Kathy: Bacon!
Vinnie: Dark chocolate—Donnelly’s of Santa Cruz or Pralus of Paris
Kass: Very, very dark chocolate
If you won the lottery, what is the first major purchase you would make?
Shannon: A boat for my hubby
Kirsten: A writing studio/bar
Kathy: A house with a lot of land for a big garden. And a hot tub. 😉
Vinnie: I want to say something noble, but probably ocean-view property.
Kass: I’d hire my hairdresser to live with me and shampoo my hair every day. Aaahhh! (She and I have actually joked about this.)
What is one simple thing that makes you happy?
Shannon: Being near water
Kirsten: Family
Kathy: Sitting around the firebowl on a crisp autumn evening
Vinnie: Tending my flowers
Kass: Reading outside
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Shannon: Florida, but I would love to have a second home in Italy.
Kirsten: I’d stay in California, but increasingly one needs lottery winnings to afford it.
Kathy: Someplace with a beautiful view, great neighbors, and a fabulous bakery within walking distance.
Vinnie: Santa Cruz, California, my current home–a university town with a perfect climate and ocean beaches.
Kass: The French Riviera (and I’ll take the great neighbors and the nearby bakery, too; oh, and might as well throw in the hot tub while we’re dreaming).
Are you a dog/cat/other person?
Shannon: Definitely Dog!
Kirsten: I travel too much to get attached.
Kathy: Cat, but I like dogs a lot, too
Vinnie: Certainly CAT!! Mainly my Lolie and her predecessor Lola.
Kass: Dog–most days.
What is the hardest thing about blogging?
Shannon: The time it takes away from my already limited writing time.
Kirsten: Coming up with original things to blog about.
Kathy: Finding the TIME.
Vinnie: The time it takes from my other writing.
Kass: Remembering that I need to put the post up EVERY week.
(Hmm, do we sense a trend here? Never enough time!)
Below are the other bloggers we are nominating for the Liebster Award (we’ll e-mail you all the instructions). Now it’s your turn, folks! Tell us a little something about yourself in the comments. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Oh, and since misery loves company I love to share, here’s that song, so it can play in your head entertain you! 😉
Shannon: Amy Shojai — Bling, Bitches and Blood
Kirsten: Diana Orgain — Author of the Maternal Instincts Mysteries
Kathy: Jenny Hansen — Cowbell–You Need More of It & Margot Kinberg — Confessions of a Mystery Novelist
Vinnie: Lisa Jensen — Lisa Jensen Online–Express
Kass: Sue Pilski — Between the Pages and Beyond
We blog here at misterio press once (sometimes twice) a week, usually on Tuesdays. Sometimes we talk about serious topics, and sometimes we just have some fun.
Please follow us so you don’t miss out on any of the interesting stuff, or the fun! (We do not lend, sell nor otherwise bend, spindle or mutilate followers’ e-mail addresses. 🙂 )

June 3, 2014 at 10:35 pmWait a minute! Are Kathy and I the only ones without a hot tub? Hmm, I think I need more chocolate-covered bacon to console myself. 😉

June 6, 2014 at 4:20 pmMy guilty pleasure (and I have to do this out of necessity anyway because of my arthritis. I’ve graduated to taking the bus again, but my frequent visits by Arthur Idis sometimes get to me. That was a long-winded answer and I still didn’t answer the question… my guilty pleasure is…taking a cab to or home from work with my favorite cab driver friend, Greg.
If I won the lottery, my first major purchase (after I pay all of my bills and my mom’s) would be a new home that would be handicap accessible for my mom so I could take her out of the nursing home and move her in with me. Not that they haven’t been great, but I’d love to have her with me.
I’m a cat person, but I like dogs, too. If I won the lottery, I might get a dog, too, and maybe another cat so my Jay could have some siblings.
The simple thing that makes me happy is seeing my mom and my friends’ smiles and hearing them laugh.
And I love the song “Getting to Know You.”

June 12, 2014 at 5:26 pmI have no guilty pleasures. I refuse to feel guilty about pleasure- the Puritanism of the idea makes me cringe. =)
I am unabashedly besotted with bacon and dark chocolate, canine and feline companionship, the eyes and laughter of my beloveds, that look he still gives me all these years later, and Vulcans.
As for who I’d like to meet….oh, so many! Pretty much anyone. People fascinate me.
I love this post. =)

June 12, 2014 at 7:31 pmLOL And I love your answer, Shan! May he still be giving you “that look” when you’re both in your nineties.
Live long and prosper!!
